Doubt. Doubt is an emotion that we've all dealt with once, twice, thrice before. It has no respect of persons and depending on its root, doubt has the innate ability either have us pause for caution or ultimately delay or derail a process.
Question is, Why do we doubt?
Lack of trust
Fear
What we heard doesn't match what we see
(the list could go on. Insert your reason here________)
The New Oxford American Dictionary defines doubt as "a feeling of uncertainty or lack of conviction".
We see "a feeling of uncertainty" present itself in Matthew 14: 27-31 (NLT) "27 But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” 29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. 31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,”Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?"
Here we find Peter requesting to meet Jesus out on the water but instantly rethinks his decision when presented with opposition in the form of wind and waves. Like us, there may be times when what we see may throw us off, having us doubt what we know to be true. Isn't it interesting that Peter wavered in uncertainty while standing in the face of certainty telling him to step out? This shows that God is not repelled by our shortcomings but is aware of them and isn't going to leave in the middle of us working through them. He is there. Don't doubt what God can do in the midst of your situation or circumstance. When He instructs, step out onto His instruction.
If we know God as the great I AM, then why do we discount what He can do?
When it comes to diminishing doubt, we have to not only get out of the boat and take the first steps on water but continue walking despite the winds and waves.

Matthew 14: 22-32
Joshua 1:5
2 Corinthians 5:7
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for instructing me, calling me out of the boat and onto the water. Thank you for being the word that goes ahead of me. Continue to give me instructions and may you grant me the courage to go along with them. I praise your name.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
